FACILITIES/AMENITIES
Spring Hills, affectionately called “the Farm” by family
and friends, offers a wide variety of facilities and activities to
complete your special event. Pond House Life at Spring Hills farm has focused at the Pond House since the family
built it in 1957. The original structure is made entirely of fieldstone
from the farm. It has since grown to include two double bedrooms, two
baths, a well-equipped kitchen and washer/dryer.
The 25-by-45-foot living room, with a cathedral ceiling and six-foot
fieldstone fireplace, is an ideal meeting place for both large and
intimate groups. For large groups, it can double as a dormitory. Bunk House
Nearby, the rustic bunkhouse sleeps up to eight
people. There is a kitchen with hot and cold running water in
the bunkhouse. A wood stove
provides quick and pleasant heat. The bunk house is provided with
a sanitary latrine as well.
Lawns In warm weather the lawns provide plenty of shaded corners for
casual
conversation, and an outdoor fireplace for evening gatherings. A few picnic
tables and small pavilion tents are available for use, and larger tents are
available from local rental facilities. Pond
There is a big spring-fed pond with a float for swimmers.
The farm encompasses its own watershed, so the purity of the spring
and well water can be trusted. In the winter, the pond is a great place
for ice skating or an impromptu hockey
game.Be sure to bring your skates and helmet.
Fields/Vistas
Whether you are looking for a landscape to paint,
or just a view to relax your mind, the Farm has plenty to offer. Open
fields and hedgerows follow the
gentle rise of the land, eventually giving way to the Big Woods that
make up most of the property. Picturesque stone walls and buildings line
and dot
the landscape and just over the hill, you can see the trees of Lackawanna
State Park,
where the occasional Hot Air Balloon launch sends a bundle of rope
and color scooting over the landscape.
Horse Carriage
Spring Hills Farm, in keeping with our goal
of environmental sustainability, has put a beautiful team of draft horses
to work and they are ready to take
you on spectacular tour of the farm in a horse drawn carriage or sleigh.
Kids love these gentle giants and their grace and power are sure to
impress even the hardiest tractor enthusiast.
Activities
In addition to the swimming and walking, the Farm
is quite suitable for running and a variety of outdoor activities. Our
family reunions always involve a
game of volleyball, badminton or softball, and there is even a basketball
hoop for a game of HORSE. In the winter, cross country skiing at Spring
Hills or at the neighboring State Park is superb. There is always work
to be done
around the Farm, so let us know if your team building exercise requires
a group effort, and we will surely find something for you to do.
